Warm Feet for Local Elementary Students
Elementary students in El Paso are sure to have warm feet this winter thanks to a generous sock donation from Scherr Legate, PLLC.
Local El Paso attorneys Jim Scherr and Sam Legate held a firm-wide sock drive, and as a result donated $250 worth of socks to students at Hart Elementary in El Paso.
When a child’s basic needs aren’t met, it becomes a challenge for the student to focus on their education and all the benefits an education has to offer. “Our firm’s culture imparts into our members that contributing to the local community is an investment for generations to come,” said Sam Legate. Scherr Legate prides itself in service, sacrifice, and leadership and takes pride in the El Paso community.
“We are extremely grateful that a local community partner has chosen Hart Elementary to provide this gesture of caring to our students,” said Virginia Huerta, Hart Elementary School Counselor. She believes this donation is more than just socks – it communicates to the students the beauty and hope of giving and receiving in the Christmas season.
Hart Elementary School is in the El Paso Independent School District and serves 570 students, grades Pre K thru 5. The majority of students at Hart Elementary participate in the free or reduced meal food program.
